Anthology: The Chart Years

Lynn Anderson made some of the best music of her career during her late-'60s period on the Chart label. Her mother, noted songwriter and recording artist Liz Anderson, supplied her with excellent material such as "Ride, Ride, Ride," her first hit, and "If I Kiss You (Will You Go Away)," her first major hit. Anderson had more of a traditional country sound during her Chart period than on her later crossover hits like "Rose Garden," but she made the country Top Ten four times and charted a total of 17 singles for the label. Anthology, Vol. 2: The Chart Years includes all of Anderson's Chart hits and a handful of interesting album tracks such as a delightful version of Leroy Van Dyke's "The Auctioneer" and Merle Haggard's "Strangers" (another Liz Anderson composition). In fact, Liz Anderson's fingerprints are all over this material, and the proud mother even contributed the package's liner notes. ~ Greg Adams
