In 1988, the Marshall Tucker Band released their first album following the break-up of the original band. Doug Gray and Jerry Eubanks had decided to continue touring and recording, and recruited some of Nashville's best session players to travel as well as record under the MTB name. Unfortunately, Still Holdin' On falls short of the band's previous efforts in many ways, not the least of which is an obvious state of confusion in regards to musical direction. Although it did yield a pair of country Top 40 charting singles, Still Holdin' On stands as one of the Marshall Tucker Band's least interesting recordings. ~ Michael B. Smith
