Goldsmith fired up a very large bank of synthesizers for this Michael Crichton-directed technothriller, cranking drum machines to insane speeds to help define the crazy situation that cop Tom Selleck finds himself in when bad guy Gene Simmons unleashes self-replicating killer mini-robots on the world. A great score for those times when you need a serious adrenaline rush, not to mention a foreshadowing of techno's use of fast beats and wild electronic noisetracks. ~ Steven McDonald
