CEMA Special Markets' Back to Back Hits features a selection of four or five songs each from two separate artists -- in this case, four songs each from Blondie and Pat Benatar. Blondie fairs better, since each song -- "Call Me," "Heart of Glass," "The Tide Is High," "Rapture" -- was a hit, while Pat Benatar only has "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," and "Love Is a Battlefield," balanced by the lesser-known "We Live for Love." The pairing really doesn't make too much sense, since Benatar was always a straight-ahead rocker and Blondie was a punk band, but both were AOR staples during the late '70s and '80s -- and anyone who was a casual fan of the format, or both artists, yet never wanted to invest in a full-fledged album or collection, may find this budget-line disc somewhat entertaining. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
